    Function sulfateChlorideBalance

    • The standard descriptive bands for SO₄:Cl.

Cut points follow Palmer & Kaminski, Water (2013) ch. 4 and Martin's Bru'n Water notes. They're a flavour heuristic and not a measurement, so this returns no band in two cases: an ion that wasn't measured (unmeasured), and water with almost none of either ion (indeterminate, see SULFATE_CHLORIDE_MEANINGFUL_PPM). Zero chloride falls in the second case. Its infinite ratio comes from dividing by zero and doesn't mean the water is extremely hoppy.

      Ratio Band
      < 0.5 too malty
      0.5 – 1.0 malty
      1.0 – 2.0 balanced
      2.0 – 4.0 hoppy / bitter
≥ 4.0 very hoppy, risks harshness

It takes the profile instead of the ratio because both of those checks need the ppm values and the unmeasured list, and the ratio carries neither.
